Inverness - Arriving & Getting Around

Inverness is surprisingly easy to get to.

The main A9 running from the central belt to the North Highlands passes through providing easy access by car and for those travelling up the west coast, the A82 runs through from Glasgow, via Fort William.

Inverness (Dalcross) airport is only about 10 minutes drive from the city centre and there are buses running between the two, although a taxi will only be about £12/£15. Many airlines including BA, Easyjet and Ryanair fly into Inverness.

National Express in conjunction with Scottish Citylink run a very good bus service to Inverness with connections throughout the UK. Coaches terminate at the Margaret Street station which is adjacent to the railway station, just off Academy Street.

There are frequent train service from all over the country including the overnight sleeper from London - which offers some really good bargains for those who book early. The railway station is right in the heart of the city making most hotels walking distance (although some may be uphill!).
